In my travels to various places around the world, one thing always strikes me: women face the same issues everywhere, whether they be single, married, mothers, childless by choice, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, professionals... pick any category, and the fact remains: women still face more challenges in every aspect of life, and have fewer rights. As the primary lifegivers and caregivers, we deserve better. Religious, physical, mental, economic and political violence against women (including limits on our rights to choose, to move freely, and to pursue a quality education and career) must cease for any society to become whole and productive. It has become obvious that even in the United States, our rights are not guaranteed. Education goes a long way in helping women improve their lives and their standard of living through recognizing that they do have control over their destinies. Everyone who is willing to better themselves deserves the chance to do so.
